Privacy Policy
Effective date: June 21, 2026
Page Audio Recorder is a locally processed browser extension. This policy explains what information the extension accesses, where it is processed, and the controls available to users.
Information processed locally
The extension may access the active tab title, URL, discoverable media resource URLs, and decoded tab audio only when the user opens the extension or explicitly starts recording.
This information is used on the user’s device to display source-audio choices, create filenames, preview or download an exposed source resource, and record the active tab as a WAV file.
No developer data collection
The developer does not collect, receive, sell, share, or transmit users’ audio, browsing activity, page content, personal information, or usage data.
The extension has no user account, developer-operated backend, remote database, advertising, analytics, telemetry, crash reporting, or remote logging service.
Local storage and retention
The extension stores limited operational metadata in chrome.storage.local, including pending download identifiers, the latest download error, successful-export counts, and support or rating prompt preferences.
Audio samples and recoverable WAV parts are written progressively to the browser’s Origin Private File System. Completed temporary recording data is removed after a successful download. Interrupted recordings remain only on the device until the user recovers or deletes them. Uninstalling the extension or clearing its storage also removes locally retained extension data.
Browser permissions
activeTab and scripting are used only to inspect media information on the tab selected by the user. tabCapture records decoded audio from that active tab after an explicit user action. offscreen supports the browser’s local audio-processing and file-writing workflow. downloads saves source audio or generated WAV files. storage and unlimitedStorage support local state and large recoverable recordings.
External websites and optional links
Previewing or downloading exposed source audio may request that resource from the website currently open in the active tab. That request is handled by the browser and the source website; it is not sent to the developer.
The optional Ko-fi support link opens https://ko-fi.com/chuxiang in a new tab. Ko-fi’s own privacy practices apply after the user chooses to visit that site. The extension does not automatically send information to Ko-fi.
User controls
Users control when scanning, previewing, downloading, and recording occur. They can stop a recording, delete a recoverable recording, clear extension storage, or uninstall the extension at any time.
Children, policy changes, and contact
The extension is a general-purpose utility and is not directed to children. Because the developer does not collect user data, no child-specific information is knowingly collected.
Material changes to data handling will be reflected in this policy and its effective date before a corresponding extension update is published.
For privacy or support questions, use the publisher support contact shown on the extension’s Microsoft Edge Add-ons or Chrome Web Store listing.
